Assaquafa Group of Institutions
A community-based educational initiative nurturing academic excellence and spiritual values on the shores of Kadmat Island for over two decades.
About Assaquafa
The Assaquafa Group of Educational Institutions is a community-based initiative on Kadmat Island, dedicated to nurturing academic excellence alongside enduring spiritual values for over two decades.
The foundation stone was laid in 1998 by the respected Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad (Kanthapuram A. P. Aboobacker Musliyar). His blessings continue to anchor the institution's mission of weaving education with moral and religious guidance.
"To develop a generation that is educated, morally responsible, and spiritually grounded — contributing positively to society while preserving strong religious and ethical values."

Kanthapuram A. P. Aboobacker Musliyar
Among the most revered Islamic scholars of contemporary India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad — widely known as Kanthapuram Musliyar — is a towering authority in Islamic jurisprudence, education, and inter-faith harmony. His presence as Patron of Assaquafa has lent the institution an unparalleled spiritual legitimacy.
It was his blessed hands that laid the foundation stone of Assaquafa in 1998, transforming an aspiration into a living reality. His ongoing guidance continues to inform the institution's curriculum, its character, and its commitment to moderation, knowledge, and service.
As a recognized Grand Mufti and foremost scholar, he laid the foundation stone in 1998. He remains a lifelong advocate for education, unity, and peaceful coexistence across Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Thiruvathapura Yousuf Saquafi
Nayib Qazi of Kadmat Island
The heart and driving force behind Assaquafa, Thiruvathapura Yousuf Saquafi is a scholar of rare combination — deeply learned in the Islamic sciences, yet keenly attuned to the practical needs of a remote island community.
His founding vision was rooted in a recognition that quality Islamic education should not be the privilege of the mainland alone. Through years of sustained dedication he built a centre of learning that has become indispensable to the cultural and spiritual identity of Kadmat Island.
Serving as President since inception and Nayib Qazi of Kadmat Island, he was instrumental in bringing structured Islamic secondary education to the region through scholarship and social service.

Sayyid Zaheer Husain Jeelani
Established Assaquafa Madrassa
A scholar of distinguished lineage and deep learning, Sayyid Zaheer Husain Jeelani holds the singular honour of having inaugurated Assaquafa Madrassa in 2008 — a milestone for formal Islamic secondary education on Kadmat Island.
His inauguration represented the culmination of years of planning and sacrifice. His scholarly blessing gave the institution a powerful spiritual launch, and his name is permanently inscribed in the history of Islamic education in Lakshadweep.
Descending from a long tradition of scholarship, his inauguration of the Madrassa in 2008 marked a historic moment for the community, establishing the first formal secondary Islamic education on the island.
